Exmoor Adventures are experienced and qualified providers of BCU 1*, 2* and 3* Kayak and Canoe Courses, using Wimbleball Lake, as well as the local River Barle and Exe.

Course: BCU 1* Kayak

Description: This is a great 1 day introduction course, perfect for those wanting to try the sport for the first time, or simply to learn some new skills.

Pre-requisits: Some experience is great, not a problem if not – a desire to learn and some enthusiasm will be all that’s needed!

Course: BCU 2* Kayak & Canoe Course

Description: The 2* course is an intensive 2 day course. Day 1 will focus on flat water canadian canoe skills, whereas day two focusses on kayak skills. The course aims to teach a range of skills and techniques, as well as rescues, use of tow/throw lines and much more.

Pre-requisits: BCU 1* would be great, not a problem if not, however, experience of paddling kayaks AND canadian canoes is essential if you are looking to pass the 2*. If you simply want to attend the course to learn new skills and techniques, you can treat this as a training, and do an assessment at a later date.

BCU 3* White Water Kayak Course (Training & Assessment) 

Description: The BCU 3* WW Kayak Course is an intense two days of river based paddling. During the two days, you’ll be coached and assessed on a range of skills and techniques such as breaking in and out of the flow, ferry gliding and rolling and much more. This course can be treated as a two day training course in preparation for a later assessment, or assessment can take place on the weekend for those paddling at the desired level.

Pre-requisits: Previous white water paddling experience is essential. Ideally, you should have a range of grade II rivers under your belt as a minimum, as well as being able to swim.
