Join us for a guided mountain bike ride on the Quantock Hills!


Activity: Mountain Biking

We provide: Bikes, helmets, gloves and a qualified guide.

Ratio: 1:8 maximum

Location: Crowcombe Park Gate, The Quantock Hills

AM session: Ages 10 – 16 – £25pp

PM Session: Adults and teenagers. – £35pp

We’ll teach you the basic skills required for off-road cycling, whilst guiding you on a fun and scenic 10-15 km route. A good level of fitness is required, with some previous cycling experience.

Kayak Safety & Skills Course

Do you want to learn how to paddle your kayak efficiently, know what to wear and carry, know how to perform rescues, and tow another craft?

This is the course for you!

This course is aimed at beginner and intermediate recreational kayakers, wanting to know the basics, before heading out on the water.


Course content:

- Different kayak designs (sit-on-top v’s closed cockpit)

- Clothing & PPE (personal protective equipment)

- What to carry

- Fundamental skills (forward, reverse, stopping, turning, moving the boat sideways)

- Journeying on flat water

- Towing systems & strategies

- Self and peer rescue in deep water

- Weather

- Planning a trip


10% of all course bookings will be donated to the Minehead RNLI.

Map & Compass Foundation Skills

This 1 day course is perfect for those with limited map and compass skills, wanting to gain the fundamental skills and techniques to give more confidence on the hills, using map and compass.

During the day, the following skills will be covered:

  • Identifying & interpreting map features (scales, signs and symbols)
  • Use a range of maps (1:25,000 & 1:50,000 OS)
  • Setting the map using a compass & land features
  • Use of the grid system, and grid references
  • Planning a route
  • Undertaking a planned route (roughly 10 km)
  • Use of pacing, handrails and timing
  • Introduction and use of taking a bearing on your compass

We provide maps and compasses.
